Getting Started!
First of all, I am by no means anywhere close to being as organized as I would like to be. Between being shoved into a too-small house and not having the means or space to do as I would like to things are crazy right now. School is officially in full swing, kids have activities 3 days a week and our weekends are strictly family time and maintaining the home since those are the few days we have with everyone together.
To introduce us, we're the "Meyer-Whittington" clan. Soon we'll be just The Meyer Clan, and it's going to be fabulous :)
We have Mom and Dad, S & Z. I'm a homemaker and he's a Lineman. We live a crazy life, but I wouldn't trade the line life for anything.
Then we have the kids:
Evie (8), Erin (8), Avery (6), Sarah (6), Josiah (3) and Noah (1).
We're busy.
My first goal with this family was to tighten up the budget. First things first I went around and started with one thing I do the most - LAUNDRY!!! Some people love it, some hate it. It's necessary though. So I got a good friends sworn by recipe for powdered detergent which is posted HERE, and after about $30 and two hours I now have enough detergent for 6+ months (hopefully longer)!
Next I went on to fabric softener. I mean, who doesn't love soft, good smelling clothes? You can find the recipe I used HERE!!
And the dishwasher. The love of my life (besides my hero Z). I use this sucker twice a day most days, and hand wash a few things here and there. Best investment EVER. You can make either the powder or the tabs with THIS recipe. I did tabs. So much easier for me to grab and toss!
Ok I think for today that's enough but thank you so much for reading and if you have any other diy tips please feel free to comment!
